Taunton Machine Knitting Club, a friendly group of machine knitters
Description
A friendly group of machine knitters. Our members use a range of makes and models of the popular machines, including Passaps.
Meetings usually include a ‘show and tell’ sharing session, demonstrations of knitting techniques and lots of discussion about machine knitting.
A yearly programme of demonstrations is organised in advance, and there are several all-day workshops each year which are open to visitors.
In the Autumn there is the opportunity to go on a 3-4 day ‘knitting retreat’ in North Devon, which is a lovely social occasion.
We welcome new members and encourage prospective members to come for a trial meeting.
December to February the club remains active via a Whats App group and we meet up for informal, daytime social events rather than in the evenings.
Meetings are in the main hall of the Community Centre. There is car parking at the centre and we try to car-share as much as possible. Members do not have to bring their own machines to the evening meetings because the club has two demonstration machines with ribbers kept at the hall, but they mostly bring their own machines to the day workshops.
Cost: Yearly membership, which covers the hire of the hall, tea and coffee is £50.
Meeting dates
First and third Thursday of the month from March to November: 7:15 pm – 9:15 pm.
Several day-long workshops during the year.
