As well as many other publications, including books, magazines and booklets, the Guild collection has many thousands of pattern leaflets issued by spinners from the early 20th century onwards. There are currently over 52,000 in the collection, and we accept donations of patterns that we don’t already have, so the number is gradually growing. Many pattern leaflets were issued by spinners who are no
longer in business, from Argyll and Anlaby to WG Spinners and Woolworth. Others are long-established brands that are still flourishing, such as Patons, Sirdar and Wendy.
The patterns that are out of copyright, or where we have permission from the copyright owner, can be copied for Guild members (for their personal non-commercial use). There are catalogues of many of these patterns on this website, along with other publications in the Collection that can be downloaded for personal use by Guild member.
You can find out about these on our “Patterns from our Collection” page.
