Search engines are great for finding things, but sometimes it is difficult to find the right help. We have compiled the following list of online tutorials using recommendations of websites that our members have found useful. Not everyone learns in the same way, and even if one of the websites is usually “right for you”, you may still find that another explains a particular technique in a way that gives you that lightbulb moment.

TECHknitter has created an encyclopaedic blog on knitting. Her tutorials are detailed, carefully illustrated, clear and often thought-provoking.
The Chilly Dog
Ellen offers a range of free and paid-for video tutorials on her YouTube channel.
Tin Can Knits
Alexa and Emily are designers who want to make their patterns as accessible as possible, and so have developed a wide range of tutorials.
Very Pink Knits
Staci has an extensive and well-produced library of videos on knitting. Clearly thought out and performed, these short videos are often linked when people ask for help.
Crochet
To avoid confusion we have limited our suggestions for crochet tutorials to those that use English crochet terminology.
