This talk, presented at Convention 2022, looks at the new wave of British knitwear designers that emerged in the late 1970s and 1980s, that was named a ‘Knitwear Revolution’ by fashion writer Suzy Menkes in her 1983 book of the same name.

In December 2020 members of the Birmingham Branch met by video conference to discuss their activities since the first COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020. You will see the fantastic crochet and knitted items they had made, learn about some of the techniques they used, and hear how the restrictions of lockdown affected their crafting lives and how their crafting made lockdown easier.
There are over 50,000 pattern leaflets in the Guild's collection, issued in the U.K. from the 1910s on - a unique resource. This talk shows the range of leaflets in the collection, and some of the really special, unusual and inspiring patterns accessible to Guild members.
