We have organised our website to align with our aims of
Sharing knowledge & skills, encouraging creativity and preserving the heritage of our crafts.
Our main menu topics are: Sharing, Creating and Preserving, supported by The Guild and Help.
- Sharing – is sub-divided into Learning and Meeting.
- Creating – is divided into Projects and Inspiration
- Preserving – is divided into Our Collection, Our History and Museums & Collections.
In addition, we have information about:
- The Guild – subdivided into Our aims, Guild publications, News, Membership, Governance, and Contact us.
- Help – information about how to use this website, our online catalogue and other aspects of the Guild.
To avoid having menus that are too big to fit onto a screen, we only include the top few levels of information in the menu in the header of the website – but these links take you to pages that have blocks of links near the top so that you can navigate easily to the information you need.
We no longer have a members-only area of the website that forces you to move away from the page you are looking at to see the member-only information. Instead, when you login the extra content appears on the same page as the public information, easily identifiable by its shading and our brand heart symbol.
Not everyone thinks about content in the same way, so it is almost certain that you will sometimes fail to find what you are looking for because we have thought about it from a different viewpoint. In this case, the easiest way to find it is to use our website search – reached by the magnifying class near the menu (its position depends on the size of the screen you are using). Or you can use our Search page.
