Eleanor Amoroso produces entirely hand-knotted macramé collections of womenswear and jewellery.
Inspired by the different textures and silhouettes created in knitwear she focuses on the elements of surface texture weaving unexpected materials into her pieces to produce contrasting finishes.
Whilst studying Fashion Design at the University of Westminster, Eleanor taught herself macramé and has reinvented and modernised the ancient technique, producing beautiful collections each season.
She has shown at London Fashion Week and exhibited with Fashion Scout (formally Vauxhall Fashion Scout) for several seasons. She has also exhibited her collections globally at Milan Fashion Week, Modefabriek tradeshow in Amsterdam and Runway Malta.
Alongside her womenswear collections, Eleanor produces jewellery collections, and works on specially commissioned projects and private commissions.
Her work has appeared in numerous publications including AnOther, i-D,
Tank, Volt, Schon, Neo2, Glamcult, Fault and Papercut and been featured on vogue.com, vogue.it and fashion156.com. She has been featured in Farameh Media’s Fast Forward Fashion book and FASHION KNITWEAR by Jenny Udale. Her work has also been displayed in Some/things’ & He Went To Sea In His Carriages & Horses Exhibition in Paris, and more recently as part of New Fashion: Interventions in Materials and Techniques at the Fashion Space Gallery, in London.
All of Eleanor’s pieces are hand-knotted by herself in her London studio and are made to order. They are intricately made and show her love for the traditional and handmade over the mass-produced.
