We have two methods you can use when paying your subscription using Sheep:

  • By card (debit or credit card). Payment is managed on our behalf by an organisation called Stripe, and you may occasionally see Stripe mentioned on emails and other places. When you renew your membership, you can either renew your existing plan or switch to another membership type (for example, choosing to no longer receive a printed copy of Slipknot).
  • By Direct Debit, setting up a mandate with your bank for us to take your subscription when it is due. This comes with all the safeguards associated with Direct Debit mandates. If you select this option, your membership will automatically renew every year and the payment will be taken from your bank. We use GoCardless to manage direct debit payments, and this is what will appear on your bank statement. You will receive reminder emails before this happens, and you must contact the Membership Team to make any change to your membership plan (for example, switching from receiving paper copies of Slipknot to having online only access, or to change your payment plan to one where you pay by card).

To pay using either of these methods, you must have an email address and pay when logged on to your Sheep account. Anyone who does not have an email address can pay using either of the methods outlined below.

Want to pay in some other way?

We realise that everyone is not comfortable with either card payments or with setting up a direct debit, or cannot pay using either of those methods, and we still accept other payment methods.

Please note that other methods take longer to process. Even when made by bank transfer, the process of matching the payment to the membership is a manual one.

If you need to pay in some other way, you will not be able to renew your membership using Sheep, although you will still be able to use it to update your personal details and to let us know what interests you.

  • You can arrange to pay by direct bank transfer. Please contact us for the relevant bank details if you cannot find them.
  • You can pay by cheque. Please make the cheque payable to the Knitting & Crochet Guild and send it to the membership secretary.
