Sanquhar gloves.
A traditional design from Sanquhar (Dumfriesshire) in the ‘Duke’ pattern.
The leaflet was published in 1954. It includes an alphabet chart for the initials to knit into the wristband.
Note that the leaflet specifies 2-ply wool and size 16 (1.6 mm.) needles, but those give a very small glove.
3 ply and UK size 14 (2mm) needles should be suitable for a medium adult hand.
4-ply wool and UK size 12 or 13 needles (2.5 – 2.75 mm.) will fit a larger hand.
