Bath Branch – Success Success with crochet – 9 May 2026
9 May @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Success Success with crochet: turning chains, stitch counts, patterns and charts – and make a bookmark.
There are two things that often frustrate the would-be crocheter: the dreaded turning chain, and correctly counting your stitches. These are often the root cause of problems, preventing people from making progress and from building their confidence.
If this sounds familiar, this workshop with Anna will help you. We’ll look at:
- three basic stitches
- how to use turning chains with these three stitches so you can work rows accurately
- counting your stitches correctly
- working from a written-out pattern
- working from a chart
- choosing a stitch and making yourself a bookmark to consolidate your skills.
What you need to know before this session
Make sure you know how to make a simple chain, as that is the basic starting point for all stitches.
What to bring
- DK (or thicker) yarn – please choose single-colour yarn in a medium or light colour as this will make it easier to see your stitches.
- Avoid yarn with a significant fluffy ‘halo’; you might want to use cotton or bamboo for an ultra-clear stitch appearance.
- A hook in the right size for your yarn (see ball band)
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Pen and paper
