Our group specialise in double filet crochet.

Description

The East London Crochet Group first went public in September 2000, although it existed around the kitchen table for a long time before that, exploring Double Filet crochet with a number of colleagues and friends. As a specialist crochet group our membership is drawn from across the country from areas like Devon, Norfolk, Yorkshire and even Fort William, although there is still a local core.

Workshops are designed to provide projects for all levels of competence, from an ability to work trebles and chains upwards. Each year the meetings have a theme. That theme is continued in our annual residential workshop in August. We also run a monthly zoom meeting online, which are show and tell sessions where we share all kinds of yarn crafts, recommend books and have an opportunity to share ideas with like-minded people.

Cost

The cost of each day workshop (10am till 4pm) at the Mardyke Community Centre is £20 for Guild members, £22 for non-members and £11 for students. The fee includes tea, coffee, biscuits etc, please bring your own packed lunch. All workshops are about double filet crochet.

Meeting dates

In person workshops four times a year. 10 am – 4 pm. Zoom meetings in between.

ELCG usually meets for a face to face full day workshop on the first Saturday in March, July, October and December. These workshops offer multiple double filet patterns designed by members of the group, and the chance to learn/develop double filet techniques.

We also catch up on line once a month between workshops. These meetings are run on zoom (ask the coordinator for details) and are ‘show and tell’ sessions including all sorts of yarn crafts including knitting, weaving, embroidery, braid making as well as a wide variety of crochet.

This group also runs an annual residential retreat.
