Where is the menu?

The menu is at the top of each page, below our logo. It might appear as a line of options or as three stacked horizontal bars.

The image shows how the menu appears on three displays of different sizes

Our website is “responsive”. This means that the layout changes with the size and shape of the display. On a wide display (such as a computer or a tablet in landscape mode) the menu appears as a horizontal list of the menu options. On narrow displays (such as re-sized windows on a computer or a mobile phone held in portrait mode) the menu appears as a vertical stack of horizontal bars with the word Menu against it. Touching the bars or the word Menu will open up a text version of the menu – that takes up most of the screen!

Most recent websites use this technology, so if you are using a phone and can’t see the menu, look for the stack of bars (or a similar icon).

The menu is not the only thing to change with the size of the display. Items that appear side by side on a wide screen will be arranged vertically on a narrow one. Sometimes the size of your display may be close to the size that triggers the switch between a horizontal and a vertical display with the result that there is a very narrow column of text next to an image – sometimes only a few characters wide. If this happens, turn your phone on its side to make the text much more readable!
