A pattern for a Bathing Outfit, published in 1933.
Patons & Baldwins published about 15 bathing suit patterns in that year, for women, men and children – this one has a matching cape, very useful on chilly British beaches. The pattern warns: “As woollen fabric expands a little when wet, a Swimming Suit must fit the figure firmly before it is worn in the water, otherwise it will be liable to sag” and the suit should be knit smaller than usual to allow for stretch.
