Leader: Nicole Hawkesford
Craft: Hand Knitting, Crochet, Machine Knitting
Experience: Suitable for all
Summary: In this workshop we will cover key body measurements for well-fitting garments, understanding ease, and what to think about with different styles of jumper/constructions. You’ll come away with your own personal measurement set and knowledge of how to get that perfect-fitting garment.
Description

We’ll start the workshop by looking at which body measurements are important when it comes to garments, and we’ll learn how to properly take our measurements. You’ll fill out your own personal measurement table for future reference (this is optional, if you prefer not to do it in class you can still benefit from seeing how to take the measurements).
We’ll then cover the concept of ‘ease’ and what this means for the style and fit of garments. We will also look at gauge/tension, and what to do if yours is different from the pattern.
Finally, we will review some different jumper construction styles – e.g. round yoke, raglan, drop shoulder, and things to think about when it comes to fit for these.
We should also have time to have some discussion and troubleshooting of any specific patterns or garments that have resulted in fit issues for you.
