Collection Heritage Open Day – Tuesday 10 September 2024
10 September @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
An opportunity to explore the Knitting & Crochet Guild’s Collection of garments and household items (knitted by hand, using a domestic knitting machine or crocheted) , publications, yarn samples and shade cards, tools and gadgets.
Find out how knitters and crocheters pass on the passion. Explore stories from knitting communities from around the UK.
This is an opportunity to view artefacts in the collection with a story to tell. Find out about who made them, where they were made and how they came into the collection. See a collection of knitted items, made whilst travelling by public transport and crochet items made whilst living on a canal boat. Explore knitting and crochet techniques and patterns from around the UK. See a wide range of tools and gadgets, shade cards and yarn samples. Why not bring along items that tell a story?
We will run hourly tours of 45 minutes at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00.
Note on accessibility. Our Collection is housed on the first floor of on old building. Access is by stairs. Unfortunately, it is not possible to visit the Collection if you are unable to climb up and down stairs.
