Local Groups & Meetings

Here is a small selection of groups which although they are not branches of the Knitting & Crochet Guild, they are listed here because of the Guild's aims to promote knitting and crochet.

It would also be great to know if any of our Guild members attend these groups and if they would like to become official branches of the Guild in future or if you know of any others you would like included let us have the details; contact us by emailing our Membership Secretary

Cast-On! Knitting Group: meet the second and last Wednesdays of every month, 7-9.30pm, at The Horse and Jockey, Faringdon Road, Stanford in the Vale, Oxfordshire. We're an informal and friendly knitting (and crochet) group. All are welcome. Bring along a current project, start a new one or ask us to show you how!

Coronation Clickers Knit and Natter: meet weekly on Mondays from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon currently at Cuppacino's, Red Bank, Lowe Street, Radcliffe but will shortly be moving back to Coronation Road Community Library, Westminster Avenue, Radcliffe, Manchester. Adults of all ages and abilities welcome. Friendly and welcoming group. You can bring your own knitting or, if you prefer to knit for charity, we can provide yarn and needles.

FECK (Friday Evening City Knitters): meets every Friday evening from 5pm in Manchester at Caffè Nero on Market Street (next to Primark). All knitters and crocheters welcome! email Melanie to get latest information.

Fenton Knitting Group: meets Tuesdays 6pm to 7.30pm at Sue's home: The Barn, Fenton, LN1 2BW. A friendly sociable group for crafters and stitchers of all skill levels. Bring along your crafting project and share your thoughts and plans with like-minded people. Everyone welcome. £3 per session to include tea, coffee and delicious home-made cake. Kernow Machine Knitters : if any of you knitters out there are hiding a machine under your beds, and would like know more about what machine knitting can offer, the Kernow Machine Knitters now have two groups running in Cornwall.Our groups are very informal, and minimum cost (I charge £1 to cover coffee and any printing). All types of machines are covered and we have several talented and experienced members than willing to pass on their knowledge.

BODMIN: The original group continue to meet on the third Saturday of the month (except December as it clashes with Christmas) at Sally's house in Bodmin. We start at 10:30 am and finish when we all stop talking about 2 hours later. Contact Sally on 01208 264113 or email

NEWQUAY: A new group is starting w/c 3rd August 2015 at Michelle's house in Newquay, and if supported enough, will continue to meet on the first Friday of each month, starting at 2pm for about 2 hours. Contact Michelle on 01637 876660 or email

Knit a Square Circle: meets every Tuesday, 10-11am, at Ace Centre (next to Border Ice Rink), Kelso, in the Scottish Borders. Our primary aim is to knit 8" squares for child aids victims in South Africa to be made into blankets. Just bring along some DK Wool and some 4mm needles. But we can supply these if needed. All knitters and crocheters welcome whatever your ability. If you are unable to make the weekly meeting you are still more than welcome to still knit for us. Cost £1. Knit & Natter Group - E13: meets every Tuesday from 2 till 4pm at St Philips Church, Whitwell Road (off Balaam Street) Plaistow E13 8BP. A group for all ages and experience we ask that people bring their own yarn and needles and we will provide refreshments and two experienced knitters who can help out with any knit related problems. Knit & Natter Group & Crochet Club - Allendale: Meetings every Friday for Knit & Natter from 10.00am to 12.30pm in Studio 11 of The Allendale Forge Studios, Allendale, Northumberland. We have a monthly Crochet Club on the first Tuesday of every month (except August) in the same venue at the same times. Contact: Christine Downie by email

Manningtree, Essex, Yarn & Thread: an informal craft and social group, where we bring our own work, sometimes try something new, help and guide each other. We meet at St John Ambulance Hall, Station Road 4th Tuesday each month, 2-4 pm Contact the organiser by email.

Stitch Knit & Natter meet every Thursday 2-4pm, at the Whitworth Centre, Dale Road, Darley Dale, Matlock. We are a happy, friendly group of like-minded folk who enjoy all forms of stitching, knitting, crochet and natter. 'United in Knitting' (Worcester) meet on most Saturdays from 11-1pm at the Pump House Environment Centre, toward the rear of Gheluvelt Park, Waterworks Road, Barbourne.
